Bilateral Cooperation

Skopje, 5-7 March 2012

On 5-7 March 2012 in Skopje, a meeting will be held between the delegations of the Republic of Macedonia and of the Republic of Serbia for negotiating the agreement on exchange and mutual protection of classified information.
The bilateral negotiations for harmonizing the text of the agreement will be initiated at this meeting.

20-21 September 2011, Rome

As a result of the initiative of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information and upon the invitation of the National Security Authority of the Italian Republic, the first round of the negotiations for harmonization of the text of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Government of the Italian Republic on Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information was held on 20-21 September 2011 in Rome. The negotiations, which resulted in agreed first version of the text of the agreement, were held in constructive atmosphere during which the two services exchanged their experiences related to the protection of classified information.

The two parties assessed that it was necessary to finalize the negotiations and to sign the agreement as soon as possible, since that would be particularly beneficial from the aspect of the industrial security, due to the increased number of Italian legal entities which wish to participate in classified tenders in the Republic of Macedonia. As a result, the two parties agreed to have the second round of negotiations in Skopje at the beginning of 2012.

Skopje, May 5, 2011

On 11 and 12 May 2011 in Ljubljana, upon an invitation of the National Security Authority of the Republic of Slovenia, bilateral discussions will be held on the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information, which was signed on March 31, 2010 in Skopje and entered into force on January 1, 2011.

The discussions at the highest level of the national security authorities of the two countries will include a number of issues concerning the practical application of the provisions of the bilateral agreement in the mutual cooperation among the competent services of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Slovenia in the field of the protection of the classified information and the vetting procedures for the users of classified information.

Skopje, July 5, 2010

The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Government of the French Republic on Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information was signed on July 5, 2010 in Skopje.

Upon authorization of the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Nikola Gruevski, M.Sc., on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, the agreement was signed by Mr. Zoran Konjanovski, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia. On behalf of the Government of the French Republic, the agreement was signed by H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Schlumberger, Ambassador of the French Republic in the Republic of Macedonia.

Skopje, March 31, 2010

The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information was signed on March 31, 2010 in Skopje.

Upon authorization of the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Nikola Gruevski, M.Sc., on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, the Agreement was signed by the Director of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information.

Skopje, February 15-17, 2010

In the period from 15 to 17 February 2010 in Skopje, upon the invitation by the head of the delegation of the Republic of Macedonia for negotiating bilateral agreements for exchange of classified information with other states, the second round of the bilateral negotiations for entering into an agreement on exchange and reciprocal protection of classified information between the governments of the Republic of Macedonia and the French Rеpublic. The text, which was agreed to before, was fully harmonized during this round of negotiations and the last expert issues were closed. The internal procedures are now ongoing for approval of the final version of the text of the agreement, after which its signing will follow.

Paris, November 23-26, 2009

In the period from 23 to 26 November 2009, the first round of bilateral negotiations on the text of the agreement with the Government of the French Republic which resulted in agreed first version of the text of the agreement. In order to harmonize the final version of the text of the bilateral agreement, the delegations of the both parties agreed to have the second round of negotiations in Skopje during the second half of February 2010.

Skopje, November 24, 2009

On November 24, 2009 in Skopje, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Skopje signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Government of the Republic of Poland on Mutual Protection of Classified Information. The ratification procedure by the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia is currently underway.

Ljubljana, September 28-30, 2009

The final negotiations on the text of the bilateral agreement with the Republic of Slovenia were held from 28 to 30 September 2009 in Ljubljana. They resulted in the final version of the text of the agreement which is expected to be signed in Skopje in the beginning of 2010.

Ohrid, June 29, 2009

The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on mutual Protection of Classified Information was signed on 29.06.2009 in Ohrid, during the international conference on the “NSA Experiences from the Preparations and after Joining NATO”, organized by the Directorate for Security of Classified Information.
