Signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chamber of the Republic of Macedonia for Private Security

PictureThe Director of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information, Mr. Stojan Slaveski, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the President of the Chamber of the Republic of Macedonia for Private Security, Ms. Verica Mileska Stefanovska. On the occasion of establishing the cooperation, representatives of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information held lectures on “Security Vetting of Legal Entities and Natural Persons” and on “Physical Security of the Facilities for Safeguarding of Classified Information” that will present significant aspects of the security of classified data related to the work of the private security.

Working meeting between the directors of NSAs of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia

On May 08, 2018 in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia, a working meeting was held between the directors of the national security authorities of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia. The goal of the meeting was exchange of opinions, theoretical and practical experiences as well as acquiring knowledge about the legal solutions on the protection of classified information implemented in the Republic of Croatia. In addition to the opportunity to obtain insights on the legal framework for classified information protection, the working meeting contributed to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two security authorities.

TAIEX Workshop on the Protection of Sensitive Information

PictureWith the support of the TAIEX instrument of the European Commission, the Directorate for Security of Classified Information organized a workshop entitled “Treatment of Sensitive Information in the areas of Business, Banking and Auditing – Legal Solutions and Practices” on 22nd and 23rd of March 2018 at the hotel Holiday Inn – Skopje. The director of the DSCI, Mr. Stojan Slaveski, Ph.D., opened the two-day workshop, followed by lectures given by experts from the Directorate for Security of Classified Information of the Republic of Macedonia and from the national security authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Croatia and the Kingdom of Spain.
The overall goal of this two-day workshop was to get comparative insights, exchange of experiences and improve the knowledge of the participants in the treatment of classified and sensitive information in the areas of Business, Banking and Auditing.
With the purpose of integrating various experiences that arise from the everyday practical work with classified and sensitive information, representatives of state institutions, audit bodies, commercial banks, private companies, non-governmental organizations and key institutions from the critical infrastructure as well as from the security sector of the Republic of Macedonia were invited to take part in the workshop.

Visit of the Director of NATO Office of Security

PictureOn the occasion of the fourteenth anniversary of the establishing of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information, Ms. Wendy A. Bashnan, Director of the NATO of Security visited the Republic of Macedonia on 5-6 March 2018.
The program of the visit included Ms. Bashnan’s participation at the Round Table with the security services that the Directorate organized on 5 March 2018 on the topic The Reforms in the Security and Intelligence Community in the Republic of Macedonia and the Integration in NATO, as well as individual meetings with the heads of the security services functioning within the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence, and with the director of the Intelligence Agency. During the visit, Ms. Bashnan also had the opportunity to meet the national coordinator for preparing Macedonia to join NATO, Mr. Stevo Pendarovski, Ph.D.

PictureOn November 23, 2017 at the NATO HQ in Brussels, the Director of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information, Mr. Stojan Slaveski, Ph.D., met with the Head of NATO Office of Security, Ms. Wendy A. Bashnan, who besides managing the Office also acts in the capacity of a Principal Security Advisor to the Secretary General and to the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, and as Chair in High Level Committees.

TAIEX Study Visit to the State Commission on Information Security of the Republic of Bulgaria

PictureA three-member delegation of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information visited the Bulgarian State Commission on the Information Security in Sofia, in the period from 23 to 25 October 2017, within the study visit on the exchange of good practices related to the mutual exchange and protection of classified information, supported by the TAIEX instrument of the European Commission.

PictureThe Director of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information, Mr. Stojan Slaveski, Ph.D., met with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Nina Suomalainen to discuss the current activities of the Directorate, the existing cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Skopje in the framework of the project on Risk Assessment Methodology for CIS Security, as well as the possibilities for establishing closer cooperation through participation in new projects supported by the OSCE.

Meeting of the Directors of the National Security Authorities in the Region 6S Format

The fifth meeting between the Directors of the National Security Authorities (NSA) of the Ex-Yugoslav republics (6S format) was held on October 06, 2017 in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia as a back-to-back evebt with the Seventh SEENSA Conference. The meeting was supported by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) as a result of its clear committment to support all forms of regional cooperation that are not contradictory to the SEENSA format of cooperation.

Seventh Conference of the National Security Authorities of the South East European Countries (SEENSA)

PictureThe Seventh Conference of the South East European National Security Authorities (SEENSA) was held on 05 October 2017 in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia. The conference was co-chaired by the Director of the NSA Serbia, Mr. Goran Matic, Ph.D., and the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Mr. Goran Svilanovic. The conference was attended by delegations of the National Security Authorities of the Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Croatia, Kosovo, Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Republic of Montenegro, Romania, Republic of Slovenia and Republic of Serbia, as well as by a representative of the EU Council General Secretariat. The chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Security of Serbia and the Police Director were special guests at the opening of the conference.

NATO Security Workshop for Non-NATO Nations and International Organizations

The Director of the Directorate for Security of Classified Information attended the NATO Security Workshop for Non-NATO Nations and International Organizations that took place in the period from 25 to 29 September 2017 in Brdo, Republic of Slovenia, organized by the NATO Office of Security (NOS) and the National Security Authority of the Republic of Slovenia. The workshop was designed for non-NATO countries and for representatives of other international organizations, with aim to familiarize them with the practical experiences from the application of the NATO security regulations and procedures.
